Your Quick Reference Guide: What is Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Therapy?
What it is:A clinical Ayurvedic protocol based upon the principles of Rasayana, designed to reverse cellular damage, purify the body of metabolic toxins, and restore enduring immunity from within by completely removing Ama (toxins), as well as “rebuilding” Ojas (vitality).
When to Start: There are three different Ayurveda treatment packages available—7, 14, or 21 days—that are tailored to your specific body type and state of health. Each treatment plan will take place under the supervision of an Ayurveda physician.
How it works:According to guest reports, the average person sees approximately a 35% improvement in their sleeping patterns after completing a full Ayurveda treatment programming protocol, as well as evidence of reduced levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) in their bodies.
What is Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy?
Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy is a systematised clinical process based on the ancient science of Rasayana. It is not like just going to a “spa” for a calm day, because it goes through a four-phase medical protocol consisting of a consultation, detoxification, core therapy, and integration, all where the intention is to create change at the cellular level.
Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy is focused on treating the primary source of fatigue, stress, and a compromised immune system. The body is not simply given a good dose of relaxation. There is systematic purification and rebuilding of the body’s tissues.
Furthermore, each herbal remedy, oil or bodywork treatment is selected by the therapist based upon your individual prakriti (body constitution) to provide you with a truly personalised experience.
Whether your dominant energy is vata (air/ether), pitta (fire/water), or kapha (earth/water), our practitioners tailor the herbs and oils used in your Rasayana protocol to match your specific biological needs.

Why choose Ayur Wakeup for Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy in Kerala?
Ayurveda originated in Kerala, which also happens to be where Ayur Wakeup is located. Our rejuvenation therapies are provided by qualified BAMS graduates who combine traditional Rasayana protocols with contemporary medical supervision.
At Ayur Wakeup, we offer more than just relaxation on the surface level; each client who receives treatment at Ayur Wakeup completes a Prakriti assessment prior to beginning their treatment. Our oils are made in-house, and the herbs we use are sourced through certified organic farms located throughout India—never are they synthetic or diluted in any way.
Rasayana: The Ancient Science Behind Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Therapy
The ancient remedial process of Ayurveda known as Rasayana involves rejuvenating one’s body and spirit through the use of herbs and holistic practices.
Rasa (plasma) is present in every part of your body, and when it flows freely from the heart to the rest of the body (ayana), we create Ojas — that is, we have vitality, clarity of thought and perception, and strength of character.
In today’s world of stress and artificial light, our bodies are loaded with ama (metabolic waste), which blocks the pathways for Rasa to flow freely from your heart and affects our ability to produce Ojas. Ayurveda views this accumulation of ama as the root cause of all disease.

Ayur Wakeup Clinical Protocol: A Four-Step Journey
While most wellness retreats give you treatments, Ayur Wakeup provides a clinical pathway. All guests at Ayur Wakeup follow a structured four-step rejuvenation process, taking their body from deep congestion to complete cellular clarity.
Clinical Impact:Guests who went through our 14-day Rasayana programme reported an average improvement of 35% in their sleep quality and decreased inflammation, which indicates biological repair rather than just relaxation.
Intensive Counselling — Prakriti Assessment
The journey starts with an in-depth diagnostic session called ‘Prashna’ where your Prakriti is mapped out by our BAMS physician and your imbalances of the doshas are identified. A completely tailored treatment and diet plan will then be created for you. This session is what determines every herb/oil/therapy you will receive during your stay; therefore, nothing will be generic.
Purva Karma – Preparing the Body.
Before rejuvenating or deep rejuvenation can happen, the body needs to be prepared or ripened. Our physicians prepare your body by loosening up the Ama, which has settled deep in the tissues, through Snehana (internal and external oil application) and Swedana (medicated herbal steam). To give you an example of how to prepare your body, think of it as clearing the plumbing in your home so you can allow the healing to get into you at the cellular level.
Pradhan Karma-Rejuvenation Core
This is where the real transformation starts. The actual rejuvenation occurs through the use of Rasayana therapies that are specific to your Prakriti (body type). For example, during Shirodhara therapy, your nervous system will be calmed, and during Pizhichil therapy, you will be bathed in warm medicated oils for the purpose of nourishing the muscle and nerve tissues. Or, the Njavara Kizhi (which is our signature rice-and-milk-bundle therapy) will build muscle and skin health at the same time.
Paschat Karma – Post-Healing Integration
Without proper integration of the healing experience, recovery is not complete. This final stage includes a detailed, individualised post-treatment plan that will provide you with a seasonal diet, daily routine, and specific breathing exercise to keep your restored Agni (digestive fire) stable long after your trip to Kerala. The result will ultimately lead to an increase in overall well-being, as opposed to just raising your energy level temporarily.
Authentic Treatment for Complete Transformation
We utilize the rich biodiversity of Kerala to provide the most potent herbal formulations available in the traditional pharmacopoeia.
Authentic lineage and herbal purity
Each oil used in our therapies is sourced from the highest-grade Ayurvedic pharmacies in Kerala, which have maintained traditional methods of preparation for many centuries. The herbs used in our Kizhis are freshly harvested to preserve all of their prana (life energy) until they are used on the body.
Expert Medical Monitoring
All rejuvenation programmes at Ayur Wakeup have been developed and are monitored by qualified BAMS doctors trained in Rasayana and Panchakarma. This level of monitoring enables even those with chronic ailments, such as high blood pressure or metabolic or autoimmune disorders, to receive treatment in a safe manner.

A message from our Chief Physician: The Philosophy of Healing
“Rejuvenation therapies do not mean an escape from living – they are an opportunity to return to how our bodies originally were created. We help the body to remove the blocks created by ama (toxins), cortisol, and chronic stress and allow the body to resume its original purpose – healing itself. We ask you to come and experience Ayurveda as a welcome home rather than as a treatment.”

— Dr. Arun Radhesh R, BAMS
Chief Medical Officer & Expert in Rasayana Therapy at Ayur Wakeup
The Healing Environment of Kerala
Rejuvenation doesn’t take place in a doctor’s office; it occurs in an environment conducive to the healing process. One of the aspects of our retreat is being located amidst the vast biodiversity of Kerala, with clean, purified air from the forest, warm sunshine and the peaceful harmonic movements of nature, which will also reset your body’s natural circadian clock. During the time that you are receiving treatment, we have a very strict policy against using any form of technology (no screens, no sounds, no distractions); it’s only you, the therapy and your body’s natural cellular renewal process – which happens slowly, purposefully and without disruption.

Holistic Integration: Diet, Yoga, and Mindfulness
Diet:The meals you eat while you are here will be determined by the physician and not any chef. All meals will be vegan, organic and tailored to support the structural phase of the Rasayana you have reached (this will enhance the body’s ability to absorb
the medicinal oils and herbs provided to you throughout your course of treatment).
Breath and Yoga:Daily pranayama (breathing) practices help to increase the amount of oxygen in the blood and provide a way for you to eliminate toxins from your cells faster. Performing the appropriate asanas (yoga postures) that have been specifically chosen for your dosha will assist in the restoration of mobility in your joints and strength in your muscles, without stressing your body during the healing process.
Mindfulness and Nature Walks:Participating in guided nature walks in Kerala’s forests will help “reset” your nervous system and improve the synchronisation of the mind and body, which are both necessary components of a sustainable state of
rejuvenation.

FAQ
How is Ayurvedic rejuvenation treatment different from a typical massage at a day spa?
A professional day spa massage targets your muscle-skin surface tension and provides only a temporary state of relaxation. On the other hand, Ayurvedic rejuvenation treatment is much more than just relaxation—it’s physician-supervised and addresses your body on the cellular level by cleansing the body of ama (toxins), restoring your ojas (vital energy), and enhancing your body’s own ability to heal over several days.
What is the ideal time frame for an Ayurvedic rejuvenation retreat?
A minimum of 14 days is required for true cellular transformation. The first 7 days include preparation and purification. The total 14 days include the healing and rebuilding phases. A 21-day programme allows for the deepest and longest-lasting results.
What is Rasayana therapy, and how does it work?
Rasayana is the Ayurveda branch that centres on cellular rejuvenation. It works by re-establishing the flow of Rasa (vital plasma) through the body’s channels, reducing Ama, and rebuilding Ojas, which relates to immunity and resilience. It typically blends specific herbs, medicated oils, and daily lifestyle practices, all tailored to your body constitution.
Who is the ideal candidate for Rasayana Therapy?
It’s meant for those recovering from an illness that has lasted for a long time or for people with high-stress careers, the elderly who want to remain mobile, or for those suffering from persistent fatigue and “brain fog.”
Is Ayurvedic rejuvenation treatment suitable for people with chronic health conditions?
Yes. At Ayur Wakeup, our trained BAMS-qualified doctors supervise all of our programmes. You may feel comfortable knowing that if you have a long-term health condition (hypertension, metabolic disorders, chronic fatigue, etc.), you can continue receiving care with medical supervision, and your individualised treatment plan can be adjusted to reflect any changes in your condition.
What season is best to have Ayurvedic rejuvenation therapy in Kerala?
The monsoon season (June – August) is the best time to receive Ayurveda Rejuvenation Therapy in Kerala because the humid weather allows skin pores to open and allows the body to absorb herbal oils / therapies most effectively. At Ayur Wakeup, we also offer year-round Ripe & Renew programmes for all four seasons.
Who is an ideal candidate for Ayurvedic rejuvenation?
This treatment can be beneficial for anyone suffering from chronic fatigue, constant stress, insomnia, weakened immune systems, or suffering through the daily grind of sedentary lifestyles. The focus of rejuvenation therapy isn’t just to treat sick people; it is designed to be a proactive approach to your overall health, wellbeing, and clarity of thought.
Can I do sightseeing and Ayurvedic rejuvenation treatments in Kerala at the same time?
While you are undergoing an active phase of your treatment, you will need to get enough rest and experience little to no stimulation to receive the best results from your therapy. We work with you to provide light outdoor experiences and guided walks to enhance your healing process without interrupting the treatment process.
