Ayurwakeup Mauli Ayurveda (Sindhu Pharmacy)

Ayurvedic Treatment in Kochi, With a Foundation Most Centres Can’t Match

Most Ayurvedic centres source their medicines from outside. Ayur Wakeup Mauli Ayurveda in Kochi doesn’t. This is what distinguishes it as the best Ayurvedic hospital in Kerala for patients who prioritise treatment quality over convenience.

Our hospital is the clinical arm of Sindhu Pharmacy, a pharmaceutical institution founded in 1986 by Vaidyan P. R. Ramachandra Varrier, producing over 350 classical Ayurvedic formulations under ISO and GMP certification. When a physician here prescribes a medicine, it comes from our own facility, made to classical standards, not sourced from a third-party supplier.

That’s not a minor point. The quality of Ayurvedic medicine is inseparable from the quality of treatment. It’s the reason patients looking for a genuinely reliable ayurvedic hospital in Kerala keep arriving here, not because of marketing, but because what they receive holds up under scrutiny. It’s also why many consider this the best Ayurvedic hospital in Kerala when consistency in formulation matters.
Our Ayurvedic treatment in Kochi focuses entirely on root-cause correction: Panchakarma, rejuvenation therapy, pain management, and stress relief designed around your constitution, not a fixed program. This is what defines a clinically structured Ayurvedic hospital in Kerala in real terms.

Ayurwakeup Mauli

A fifty-year lineage: Sindhu Pharmacy and Mauli Ayurveda

The institution behind the hospital has been part of Kerala’s Ayurvedic practice for more than five decades. Vaidyan P. R. Ramachandra Varrier served as Chief Physician at Dhanwantari Vaidyashala from 1968 to 1984. In 1986 he founded Sindhu Pharmacy in Varapuzha, Ernakulam, because genuine Ayurvedic medicines were becoming harder to find. He kept every formulation true to the classical texts. He passed away in 2006, and the pharmacy still works to the standards he set.

Mauli Ayurveda is the clinical extension of that pharmacy. The medicines used in treatment are the same formulations Sindhu Pharmacy has produced for years, which is uncommon for a hospital of this size.

About the Hospital

Ayur Wakeup Mauli Ayurveda is part of the Ayur Wakeup network, which has run Ayurvedic centres in Kerala since 1997. The Mauli branch adds pharmaceutical depth: it treats patients with medicines it makes itself, to classical texts and to ISO and GMP standards.

The method follows Vaidyan Varrier’s original approach. Find the root cause. Treat the whole person rather than the symptom. Build the plan around the patient instead of issuing a standard protocol.

Kerala Ayurveda is a method as much as a place. Oils are prepared a particular way, toxin mobilisation comes before purification, and Rasayana follows detox rather than starting it. At Mauli Ayurveda these stages are followed in the order the classical texts set out.

Panchakarma and Core Therapies

Panchakarma is the core of what happens here. After an initial assessment, the physician maps your constitution and decides which therapies fit your condition. The common ones include Shirodhara (a steady stream of warm medicated oil over the forehead), Abhyanga and therapeutic massage, Kizhi and Pizhichil, Virechana (therapeutic purgation), and Basti (medicated enema). Each is prescribed for a reason, and the plan changes as your body responds.

Conditions We Treat

Treatment moves from diagnosis to correction in stages. Below is a short summary of the main conditions managed here. Each links to a fuller treatment page.

Insomnia (Anidra)

Persistent insomnia usually points to a Vata or Pitta imbalance. Treatment centres on Shirodhara, with Thalam, Nasyam, and prescribed internal medicines. Many patients notice a change within the first week.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (Amavata)

Amavata is treated in three stages: Deepana and Pachana to prepare digestion, Panchakarma (Virechana and Basti), then Rasayana with therapies such as Njavarakizhi and Janu Basti. Progress is tracked against ESR, CRP, and rheumatoid factor over a 14 to 21 day stay.

Psoriasis

In Ayurveda psoriasis begins in the blood and deeper tissues, not the skin, which is why topical treatment alone has limits. The protocol uses a three-stage Panchakarma process with Takradhara and Lepam, alongside a prescribed diet. Many patients with long-standing plaques experience significant, lasting relief, though results vary by individual.

Weight Management

When diet and exercise have not held, the usual picture is Kapha dominance with weak Agni and tissue-level Ama. The 14 to 21 day programme uses Udwarthanam, Swedana, and Virechana with a prescribed diet to support metabolic correction.

Diabetes (Prameha)

Treatment looks beyond blood sugar to the pancreatic and digestive function behind it. Each patient begins with a Prakriti and pathology assessment, then a 14 to 21 day plan combining Virechana, Udwarthanam, therapeutic yoga, herbal formulations, and dietary change.

Gynaecological Care

Conditions such as PCOS and PCOD, irregular or heavy cycles, fibroids, and reproductive weakness are assessed together with sleep, digestion, and stress. Therapies including Uttar Basti, Yoni Pichu, and Kati Basti are combined with internal medicines, and all care is private.

Accommodation and Stay

Rooms come in A/C and Non-A/C options: clean, quiet, and meant for rest. The property has dedicated yoga and meditation space, an on-site pharmacy stocked with Sindhu Pharmacy formulations, consultation rooms, and parking. Meals are served on-site, so there is no need to leave for anything treatment-related.

Ayurvedic Diet and Food

Every meal is Ayurvedic, sattvic, and vegetarian. During a Panchakarma or detox programme, what you eat is part of the treatment, so your diet is prescribed by the treating physician and changes as the programme moves from the pre-detox phase through the main detox and into Rasayana.
Meals are cooked fresh using locally sourced produce, prepared in the traditional way to keep the medicinal quality of the ingredients.

Why Varapuzha and Kochi

The hospital sits in Varapuzha, Ernakulam, about 30 to 40 minutes by road from Cochin International Airport. For patients arriving from the Gulf, Europe, or elsewhere in India, that access is straightforward, and the airport has direct flights from several regions.
Kerala’s warm, humid climate is relevant to the treatment itself. Humidity of 70 to 90 percent acts as a natural vasodilator, which improves blood flow and helps oil-based therapies absorb through the skin. Panchakarma tends to work better here than in drier climates, which is something the classical texts already note.
On rest days there is plenty nearby. Marine Drive runs along the water in the city, Cherai beach is close, and the Chottanikkara Temple and Hill Palace museum are within reach for an afternoon out.

Why Patients Choose Mauli Ayurveda

The Medicines are Made Here

Sindhu Pharmacy produces over 350 classical Ayurvedic formulations under ISO and GMP certification. When your treatment plan includes an internal medicine, it is made in the same institution whose clinical arm you are sitting in. That kind of integration is uncommon.

Running Since 1997

Ayur Wakeup has operated centres in Kerala for nearly three decades, with patients from the USA, Denmark, Germany, Malaysia, and across India. Many return after their first stay.

Treatment Built Around the Patient

Every programme starts with a Prakriti-based assessment of your constitution and how your condition has developed. Two people with the same diagnosis often receive different protocols.

The Same Physician Throughout

The doctor who assesses you on day one reviews your progress through the stay, and the plan adjusts as your body responds.

Diet, Yoga, and Lifestyle are Part of the Plan

These are prescribed alongside the therapies rather than offered as extras, because recovery depends on the whole environment.

Common Questions

How long does treatment need to be?

For Panchakarma and chronic conditions, 14 days is the minimum, and 21 days gives more depth for long-standing cases. Rejuvenation programmes usually run 7 to 14 days. The physician gives a clear recommendation after the initial consultation.

What does the daily rate include?

From ₹6,500 per day, per person: accommodation, three Ayurvedic vegetarian meals, daily physician consultation, 1.5 to 2 hours of prescribed therapies, and all medicines during the stay. Airport transfers to Kochi are included for stays of 14 days or more.

What costs extra?

Laundry, any lab work or scanning needed during the stay, taxi services outside the airport transfer, and take-away medicines for use at home after discharge.

Are the medicines different from other centres?

Yes. Sindhu Pharmacy, which runs this hospital, makes over 350 classical formulations in-house under ISO and GMP standards, and the medicines in your treatment come directly from that facility. Few centres manufacture their own.

I am on allopathic medication. Can I still do Ayurvedic treatment?

Yes. The physician reviews your current medications at the initial consultation. Modern and Ayurvedic medicines are often run in parallel here, with proper clinical justification.

I am coming from outside India. What should I know?

Kochi has a well-connected international airport with flights from the Gulf, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Airport transfers are included for stays of 14 days and above, and the team can help with orientation and local logistics.

Is the food vegetarian?

Yes. Every meal is Ayurvedic, sattvic, and vegetarian, prescribed as part of your treatment plan rather than a fixed menu, and it changes as your programme progresses.

Can I consult online before booking travel?

Yes, and it is worth doing before you commit to dates. Online consultations help you understand the right programme length and approach. Book at ayurwakeup.com/book-ayurvedic-treatment.

Ready When You Are

The institution behind this hospital has practised Ayurveda for over fifty years, with a pharmaceutical lineage that goes back further. What is on offer is a working clinical tradition with its own medicine-making behind it, not a wellness package built for tourism.

If you want a centre in Kochi where the medicine, treatment, and clinical oversight are genuinely connected, a consultation is the place to start.
